Qualifying matches served as the exciting start to the Trinidad and Tobago International 2025 today at the National Racquet Centre, Tacarigua 🏸🔥. Athletes stepped onto court with focus, skill, and determination — setting a strong competitive tone to open this BWF Future Series event.
After qualifiers, we gathered for our Opening Ceremony — a celebration of culture, unity, and the love we share for this sport 🇹🇹❤️.
We were honoured to welcome Gabre-Jesu Mc Tair, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Hayden Mitchell, President of the Trinidad & Tobago Tennis Association, and Sharon Bravo-Phillip, President of the Trinidad & Tobago Table Tennis Association — who joined us in support of this important moment for sport in Trinidad & Tobago 🤝🇹🇹
The celebration continued with live parang from the Homer Parranderos Parang Band 🎶, our beloved doubles and refreshing local flavours 😋, and the sweet sound of steelpan performed by Kymani McPhie 🥁 — a gifted musician and proud member of our TTBA badminton family.
This tournament and the wider week of badminton currently underway are made possible through the dedication and leadership of many:
• Ms. Wanda Homer — TTBA Secretary and Parang Band Leader, bringing culture, warmth, and precision to today’s welcome 🤍
• Ms. Reshma Ramcharan — Assistant Secretary, steady and committed behind the scenes 🙌🏽
• Mr. Chandrika Ramsubhag — TTBA President, guiding with purpose and vision 🎯
• Mr. Anil Seepaul — Technical Director, working tirelessly to elevate and unify the sport nationwide 💼🏸
• Referee PJ Williams, along with our Umpires, Court Officials, and Technical Team — ensuring fairness, safety, and smooth play every step of the way 🎧📋
• Coach Stephanie Mitchell — always willing to assist, support, and strengthen our events with grace and reliability 🤝
We also extend heartfelt appreciation to our volunteers, coordinators, sponsors, supporters, and well-wishers who give of their time, resources, and heart.
We see you. We value you. We thank you 🤍🙏🏽
This tournament continues the momentum from CAREBACO, where we also welcomed little ones from Valencia, who joined in the joy of badminton — tiny supporters with big energy 🎓✨
Their presence reminds us that sport nurtures confidence, discipline, teamwork, and joy, right alongside academics.
To the athletes who have traveled from across the world — welcome 🌎🤝
May the matches ahead be safe, respectful, and played with excellence.
The Main Draw begins tomorrow at the National Racquet Centre.
Come experience world-level badminton right here at home 🇹🇹🏸🔥
Serving Heart. Smashing Limits.
