Pan Am Badminton has recognized the excellence of our very own PJ Williams and Kevin Yung!
In 2022, Williams was recommended for a referee assessment after the Pan Am individuals in El Salvador. This year, he's been chosen as Head Referee for Pan Am's top tournament and the Pan Am Individual championships in Jamaica.
After an intense six-day evaluation, he achieved the highest level - Certificated Referee Since 2017, Williams has proudly represented Pan Am Badminton in South America, Central America, and North America, making him T&T's first and only Badminton Referee to date.
Meanwhile, Yung, with five years of accreditation, faced scrutiny at a Pan Am Badminton tournament in the Dominican Republic and passed with flying colours, reaching the Certificated Umpire level
Yung's journey has taken him to various countries across the Americas
Both have risen to the highest levels for umpires and referees in Pan Am Badminton.
'Accredited' means they meet the minimum requirements for international tournaments in the Pan Am region. 'Certificated' signifies they excel at the highest level.
Join us in congratulating these remarkable gentlemen!
Umpire Training continues with five persons being trained and elevated to Associate Umpire status at the conclusion of the 2019 Junior National tournament held at the National Racket Sports Center in Tacarigua on June 15 - 16 and 22 - 23. The recruits, assisted and guided by seasoned umpires, were tested over the four days and at the end came out with greater knowledge and understanding of the sport.
The T.T.B.A. wishes these individuals continued success in their new role and looks forward to their participation at future tournaments and events.
